Milestones and Achievements

Dr. Andrew Chua, Principal and Executive Chairman of EASB, started Informatics Software in the year of 1984, a training and consultancy outfit dedicated to the provision of trained IT software professionals for the Singapore’s burgeoning IT industry.

 

Informatics Software was further expanded to become Information Technology and Management (ITM) Associates, in line with the upgrading of the national economy into a high-tech and high value-added economy.

ITM Associates was later established as East Asia School of Business (EASB). It collaborated with selected renowned UK universities and launched a series of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in IT, business and management-related disciplines. Our first intake of students.

Established collaboration partnership with Queen Margaret University, UK.

First of few private schools to be awarded the prestigious Singapore Quality Class (SQC) Award by SPRING Singapore, a government agency responsible for standards setting and quality assurance in Singapore. Established collaboration partnership with Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University.

EASB was renamed East Asia Institute of Management due to its elevated status as a management institute. East Asia Institute of Management continues to be referred to as EASB. The letters EASB have been trademarked in Singapore, Malaysia and the People’s Republic of China. Pioneer Degree Graduates.

Received the CaseTrust for Education Award. This special mark was awarded to private education institutions that had demonstrated good business practices. With effect from 1 Sep 2005, only private schools with this trust mark are allowed to recruit and admit foreign students.

Set up the Hospitality & Tourism Training Center which is a mock-up of a real hotel setting.

Established collaboration partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK (formerly known as University of Wales Institute, Cardiff)

Renewal of SQC-PEO & CaseTrust.

Students enrolment reached over 2,200. EASB’s programmes are articulated with and accepted by 27 overseas universities for advanced standing. Set up of the Balestier campus in May 2008, officially opened by the British High Commissioner, Mr Paul Madden, in Dec 2008, and witnessed by the British Minister for Higher Education and Learning. With a land area of 18,000 sq metres and built-up area of 37,000 sq metres, EASB Balestier campus can house up to 6000 enrolled students with a wide range of learning & leisure facilities.

Opening of the Henderson campus in May 2009. EASB’s School of Allied Health Sciences was formed. EASB received the SME Growth Excellence Recognition Award 2009. EASB was the only education institution to receive such an award. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with consistent and stable financial performances.

In May 2010, EASB was awarded the full 4-year EduTrust Singapore Certification. EASB was awarded the SME Growth Excellence Recognition Award for 2nd year in a row.

EASB entered into a partnership agreement with the Singapore Armed Forces Reservist Association (SAFRA) to sponsor 300 scholarships for qualified SAFRA members to its degree programmes. The scholarships, to be awarded over the next three years, are worth about $7.5 million, making EASB SAFRA’s largest education partner. Established collaboration partnership with Aston University, UK EASB was awarded the SME Growth Excellence Recognition Award for 3rd year in a row.

Amongst the top 6 winners of the 2012 Enterprise 50 (E50) Awards (Ranked 6th out of 50). Commenced offering for the University of London programmes, mainly in areas of accounting, banking and finance, business, management and economics. Launch of the Singapore Management Journal. Renewal of Singapore Quality Class Accreditation. Finalist for the Education and Training Excellence category at the 13th Annual Business Awards, organized by the British Chamber of Commerce, Singapore.

EASB signed a 5-year partnership agreement with Sheffield Hallam University (UK) to offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in business and management. Successful SQC renewal (2013 – 2015). Opening of EASB Auditorium and Gym Centre.

Successfully renewed the 4-year EduTrust certification, with a new validity period of 20 May 2014 to 19 May 2018. Selected by the Singapore 50 (SG50) Economic & International Committee Secretariat as one of the successful SMEs to be featured in the “50 Schools, 50 SMEs” project, spearheaded by Spring Singapore, IE Singapore and the National Library Board to pay tribute to firms that have contributed to the nation’s economic growth story.

Successfully continued to achieve the status of Singapore Quality Class (SQC) for Business Excellence from SPRING Singapore. The certification is valid from 29 February 2016 to 28 February 2019.
