Objective

 

The course is concerned with getting and maintaining optimum performance from new employees. To develop the skills and approaches needed to help increase supervisory leader effectiveness in orienting and developing the new employee.

 

  • To understand clearly what capabilities and proficiencies new employees need to develop
  • To become effective in orienting, training, and developing new employees;
  • To know and use techniques that maintain good performance and increase productivity among new employees

 

Outline

  • To present information that will help you analyze a job
  • To become aware of your own role and responsibility in planning a job vacancy and
  • To develop a skill in interviewing candidates for your position
  • To help you understand the basics of a good orientation program
  • To provide a working knowledge of your role and responsibility in the orientation
  • To develop your understanding of how the group influences an employee and specifically a new employee
  • To learn to integrate-to fuse-the different interests together into a good working relationship with the new employee
  • To develop your understanding of a manager/ mentor’s role in training
  • To help you build the skills needed to asses and develop a training plan
  • An understanding of delegation
  • Skills in delegating work and empowering new employees
  • Developing an appreciation of the manager’s helping role
  • Recognizing problems faced by new employees – whether nontraditional or traditional employees
