EASB QMU Alumni Event Afternoon Tea

3 February 2012 – The iconic tune of the Scottish bagpipe celebrated the homecoming of 50 Queen Margaret University (QMU) alumni today at the Marina at Keppel Bay this afternoon. Amongst the 1,500 odd QMU alumni that EASB have proudly graduated since 2005, many have begun their career in Singapore .
 

Queen Margaret University is one of the official sponsors for the Edinburgh Inspiring Capital Clipper. In conjunction with the Clipper Round The World Yacht Race 2012, the QMU Alumni networking session was held at the Island Suite upon a scenic backdrop of the marina, also the official harbour for Leg 5 of the race.

 

 

Our confident QMU Graduates were greeted by familiar faces from the faculty. Invited guests to this memorable event were Professor Petra Wend, Vice Chancellor and Principal of Queen Margaret University, and Dr Andrew Chua, Principal and Executive Chairman of East Asia Institute of Management, EASB, along with Ms Rosalyn Marshall Vice Principal (Resources and Development), QMU, and Mr Craig Rutherford, Development and Alumni Manager, QMU.

“There are 3 factors to a successful sea journey; Skills sets, teamwork and destination. Similarly in EASB, we impart industry-relevant skill sets, inculcate the spirit of teamwork and cohesiveness, and begin with the end in mind” shared Dr Andrew during his speech.

The brainchild of this international event, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston (right), founder and Chairman of the clipper yacht race, was specially invited to grace the event.

“This race is done by people just like you and me; from taxi drivers to doctors and lawyers. Make a difference in your life. Don’t look at yourself in the mirror at 90 (years old) and regret not pursuing your dream” said the first man to sail solo, non-stop around the world.
