The Master of Business Administration is an internationally recognised and respected qualification for senior management. This module will provide insights into the factors which influence people’s behaviour and how they can be utilised to achieve maximum organisational effectiveness. This module is designed to introduce students to the roles and functions of the accounting profession. It seeks to enable students to understand terms commonly used by accountants. The central aspect of this module is 'decision making' that is how the information provided can be used properly and effectively.
This module aims to provide students with the theory of how market dynamics, business environment, consumer trends and behaviour, and the organisation’s capabilities affect its ability to deliver profitable customer propositions. Emphasis will be placed on the application of key theories, concepts and techniques to develop an in-depth understanding of a market and to develop appropriate marketing strategies.
This module provides a comprehensive introduction to research in business and management disciplines. It outlines the key quantitative and qualitative methodologies, major research methods (observation, surveys, case studies, interviews and action research, and major paradigms and debates in business research. It will help students to build appropriate strategies for reviewing literature and developing a coherent set of aims and objectives for a research study.
Strategic Management studies the major moves made by organisations. It encompasses all of the management disciplines but mainly focuses on Marketing Strategy. It will cover the formulation of strategy and implementation. Students will be invited to adopt the role of senior management in a specific firm in a specific sector to evaluate factors that influence choice of strategy. The Strategy Implementation stage will provide insights into the problems encountered during implementation and how strategies are formulated.
The dissertation provides an opportunity for in-depth study of a topic. It requires students to: critically evaluate major schools of thought within relevant management theory, translate theory into practice through the study of its application in the real world, undertake empirical research in this area and draw conclusions about the implications of the results for managerial decision-making.
This module is designed to enable students to analyse and critically evaluate financial choices using investment appraisal techniques, considering the cost and sources of capital and the necessity of managing the balance sheet. It raises awareness of external considerations, such as take-over threats, interest rate movements, and currency fluctuations, which may impinge on decision making. This enables students to make strategic appraisals of financial problems and identify appropriate solutions.
This module involves the consideration of expanding business abroad and meeting foreign competition. It enables students to acquire expertise in developing marketing strategies in other countries, and promote understanding of the factors determining standardisation and its appropriate implementation in international markets.

Each module is assessed by academic work comprising written assignments, case study reports, essays, examination as determined by the subject profile. The assessment criterion varies from module to module and level to level. The typical assessment consists of a 40% coursework component and a 60% close book examination.
DELIVERY METHOD Top Generally the curriculums for all levels are taught over 4 terms of 12 weeks. Modules are conducted in formal instructor-led classroom sessions where students are introduced to the course discipline. Each term will cover 2-3 modules with 50 contact hours per module. Lectures are 2-hour sessions and Tutorial 3-hour sessions weekly.
