MSc International Hospitality Management & Leadership
The MSc International Hospitality Management and Leadership programme is a 12 month programme designed as a career entry general masters course, primarily for students with little or no business, management or leadership experience.
The focus of the programme emerges from a commitment to make a distinctive contribution in the field of hospitality and management education and to wider society, by offering an accessible, contemporary and practical student-centred programme. The programme seeks to develop graduates: who can identify the need for, and then lead change; who understand the importance and strategic value of sustainable, long term solutions; who are creative, entrepreneurial and flexible practitioners, with a truly international perspective; and who are sensitive to wider societal impacts and responsibilities.
One of the primary goals of the programme is to place the student at the centre of the learning process and empower them to take increasing ownership of the learning experience. This approach encourages the practices of critical and reflective thinking throughout the programme and is exemplified in the Community Impact and Practice module.

This module covers the areas pertaining to community engagement such as project management and personnel development planning. The structure of the Community Impact and Practice is designed to inculcate the sense of community or society linkage in projects that organisations embark on.
This module engages students in a critical exploration of the principal theories, concepts and principles of global management. It also examines in critical perspective the practice of management through an engagement with a range of contemporary issues in management across different organisational and cultural contexts.
The module serves as a focus for the development of knowledge, skills and discussions surrounding contemporary views and models of leadership. The module will also explore issues of ethics in leadership and the responsibility to a wider society of the contemporary leader.
This module facilitates student engagement in developing integrative and creative responses to contemporary global strategic challenges. It helps to develop student awareness of organisational and environmental contexts and their influence on successful strategic management. It further enable students to demonstrate understanding of finance and accounting techniques by applying and synthesising into strategic decision making in a national and international context.
This module covers various research approaches such as qualitative and quantitative research. It aims to cover the concept of sampling, research instrument design and introduces the usage of data analysis software. Lastly it also covers areas under ethical usage and research limitations, as well as ontology and epistemology.
This course examines Leadership and management theory in hospitality, characteristics and practice of leadership, with emphasis on inspirational hospitality leaders. Students will get to understand the international hospitality industry and practical aspects of leadership through learning from the experts. The future of hospitality leadership with critical analysis of issues, problems and trends will be addressed.
This module examines the hospitality industry as an international business and focuses on aspects of internationalisation, globalisation, culture, history, geography and economy. It touches on tourism and hospitality infrastructure development, hotel design and integration of hotel building with local, natural and cultural environment. It examines the responsibilities of hotel operations and management, service quality with concepts and implications for quality management and customer satisfaction and other aspects such as legal issues, marketing, and ethics.
This module aims to identify, evaluate and extrapolate critical development factors relating to the evolution of the Resorts/Spas. Students learn to critically evaluate future growth potential as leisure patterns change and many new development opportunities emerge. It also analyse responsibilities and roles of specialised managers and how collective outputs are measured that effectively ensure the profitability of the organisation.
This module enables students to investigate, analyse and evaluate the role and scope of marketing activities within an international perspective and context. Students will learn to investigate, analyse and assess a focused international marketing opportunity.

East Asia Institute of Management, EASB, is in the first batch of PEIs to be awarded the 4-year EduTrust Certification by the Council for Private Education. EduTrust certification recognises PEIs that have robust academic systems and processes, and have attained quality standards in the delivery of education.
EASB has adopted both the escrow bank account and insurance scheme for the protection of total fees paid by all students as required under the EduTrust Certification Scheme.
EASB has in place a mandatory group medical insurance policy as required by the Council for Private Education for all students’ hospitalization and treatment throughout their course duration. In addition, EASB has a group personal accident insurance coverage for all students.
EASB has adopted the standard PEI-student contract.

Each module is assessed by academic work comprising written assignments, case study reports, essays, examination as determined by the subject profile. The assessment criterion varies from module to module and level to level.
Generally the curriculums for all levels are taught over 4 terms of 12 weeks. Modules are conducted in formal instructor-led classroom sessions where students are introduced to the course discipline. Each term will cover 2-3 modules with 50 contact hours per module. Lectures are 2-hour sessions and Tutorial 3-hour sessions weekly.
