The World of Hospitality Management continues to change and evolve. It is one of the fastest growing industries in the World today. This major provides a broader International Hospitality Management degree with a solid foundation in Events and Conference Management. The flexibility of the program means students can tailor their study to specific areas of interest.
Therefore, this course is designed to provide students with an understanding and appreciation of Hospitality Management, and also prepare them for executive positions in the industry. Upon successful completion, the student will be awarded the Diploma in International Hospitality Management (Events Management).
Each level of study consists of 120 credits. Upon successful completion of the Diploma, students may advance to the Advanced Diploma in International Hospitality Management (Events Management) programme.

This module consists of financial accounting, management accounting and finance. Students learn the basic concepts of financial accounting and how to interpret and analyse financial statements in the financial accounting section. In the management accounting section, students learn managerial accounting and techniques that are popularly used by managers in decision making.
In the finance section, students learn capital investment project appraisal and working capital management. Special operating ratios, format of accounting and management control reports and unique management decision models as used in the hospitality industry will be

This module introduces students to the fundamental concepts of managing services in food & beverage operations and their applications. Its aim is to develop students' service management know-how, planning skills, and techniques in delivering high quality service in the food & beverage industry. Topics also include service management, menu development, dining & beverage service styles, service equipment, facility design, decor, and maintenance. Food & Beverage Service Operations is one of the seven core business subjects for year 1 and is mandatory in the hospitality and tourism course.
The aim of this module is to assist you in taking an organization-wide and
conceptual approach to events management while addressing some of the present and future challenges and directions. This module will explore the key aspects of the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Events industry relevant to students across the industry. Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Events (MICE) is an important sector in both the events and hospitality industries. This module will introduce key aspects relevant to students across the events and hospitality applied fields.
This module develops an understanding of marketing issues. It enables students to make good decisions by balancing the organisation's objectives and resources against customer needs and opportunities in the industry. Topics include marketing for tourism and hospitality, service characteristics and market segmentation, market positioning, target marketing, and the 8Ps ofmarketing in the Hospitality and Tourism industry.
This unit introduces students to the study of Management and the basic
academic skills relevant to University study in this discipline. The topics students examine include managerial work in organisations, historical and contemporary theories in management, the management environment, social responsibility and managerial ethics, planning and managerial decision making, managing individuals and groups, motivation, leadership, employment relations and managerial control. A number of themes are addressed throughout the subject such as diversity (gender and cross-cultural influences), power and control, and organizational learning. Organisational learning will be seen as one of the key challenges facing managers in the next millennium.
This module introduces students to the structure of tourism systems and the multiplicity of sectors and industries within those systems. Students are introduced to the integrated tourism model and systems, tourism suppliers, political, economic, socio-cultural and environmental issues within the context of ecologically sustainable developments and tourism policy and planning.
Each module is assessed by academic work comprising written assignments, case study reports, essays, examination as determined by the subject profile. The assessment criterion varies from module to module and level to level.
Generally the curriculums for all levels are taught over 4 terms of 12 weeks each. Modules are conducted in formal instructor-led classroom sessions where students are introduced to the course discipline. Each term will cover 2-3 modules with 50 contact hours per module. Lectures are 2-hour sessions and Tutorial 3-hour sessions weekly.
