This module is designed to give the student a good understanding of information systems and their potential impact on organisations and their environment.
This module is designed to equip the student with an appreciation and understanding of the skills necessary in managing an IT services department. This includes an examination and evaluation of the range of techniques and approaches which are suitable for use within an IT department and the development of a professional approach to providing IT services. This module also provides an in depth study of specific aspects of computer networking.
This module provides students with the practical skills and theoretical background to undertake self managed projects and to assist in the management of team efforts. The emphasis is on recognising that in recent years there is a "software crisis". This module aims to equip the student with informed opinion on some of the various solutions to this crisis currently proposed for more effective management of projects involving Information Systems.
This module explores the principal social, legal and ethical concerns associated with IT management, with respect to managing people within the industry, and to the ethical dimensions of the use and development of information systems. The module covers many of the objectives of the British Computer Society’s Diploma in Professional Issues in Information Systems Practice (version 2)
This is a capstone project for all year 3 final term students. They will determine a topic of choice where they will enhance the operations through use of Information Systems.
