The Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Operations Management equips students with the skills to apply scientifically-based techniques to work-related problems. Students learn to apply skills in Transport management, problem-solving, supply chain and logistics and to develop decision support, scheduling and control systems. The programme enables you to develop an in-depth study of logistics and Operations management.
Each level of study consists of 120 credits. Upon successful completion of the Advanced Diploma, students may advance to the University of Southern Queensland, Bachelor of Business Supply Chain Management programme.

Learning about Organizational Behaviour will help you develop a better understanding about yourself and other people in the work environment. This course will provide you with the knowledge, concepts and tools to be more effective in dealing with your peers, subordinates and business associates. It will focus on developing you as an effective and successful manager. In this course, you will learn the impact of individuals, groups and structure on the behaviour within an organization, for the sole purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organization's effectiveness.
This module provides an overview of e-commerce, a field that continues to evolve as companies look to the Internet for solutions to problems and opportunities for new businesses. The module will examine the e-commerce with a specific thrust for the Logistics sector.
This module provides students with a framework for understanding and thinking strategically about employment relations and the management of human resources in organizations. The course draws on insights from the social sciences to explore how economic, social, psychological, legal, and cultural forces influence employment relations. Topics include the design and implementation of HRM systems in multinational companies; adjusting HR systems to international variations in the external environment of the employment relationship; the development of international careers; and the integration of local employees into global organizations. The experiences of the Americans, Japanese and European corporations establishing HRM systems in industrialized, transition, and developing economies will be discussed.
Operations management is one of the most challenging topics in the business area. The purpose of this subject is to familiarise the students with the nature and processes of operations management and decision making techniques used to overcome or minimise some common operating problems within organisations. In this subject, a balance of service and manufacturing applications is maintained.
Over the past several decades, more and more work has been accomplished through the use of projects and project management. The use of projects has been growing at an accelerated rate. Contrary to popular belief, management of logistics and supply chain project isn't just a concern for big businesses. Every business ?C big or small ?C relies on the effective planning and implementation of projects for it success. Our ability to plan and implement projects will help corporations to cut costs, recover funds and close loopholes, delivering up to three to four-fold returns on investment and possibly preventing thousands of dollars more in future losses.
This module covers concepts and skills that are used by managers to propose, plan, secure resources, budget, and lead project teams to successful completions of their projects.
Logistics management and supply chain management are contemporary areas of business that is receiving increased amount of resources to increase their value-added content. Customers, internal, external and consumers are all demanding better services and products in the global environment. Life cycles of products are shortening as are production cycles times, these together with improved distribution networks allows smoother flow of products and with technology improved flow of information. These are concerns of Logistics and supply chain management.
This module provides an overview of supply chain management, inbound and outbound logistics, and also focuses on key strategic issues that are critical to successful supply chain and logistics implementation.
The objective of this module is to assist students to understand both the fundamental role and importance of transportation in companies and in our society, and the complex environment in which transportation service is provided today. Students will learn the concepts and issues on alternative modes of transportation, regulations, policy and impact of globalisation.
Each module is assessed by academic work comprising written assignments, case study reports, essays, examination as determined by the subject profile. The assessment criterion varies from module to module and level to level.
Generally the curriculums for all levels are taught over 4 terms of 12 weeks. Modules are conducted in formal instructor-led classroom sessions where students are introduced to the course discipline. Each term will cover 2-3 modules with 50 contact hours per module. Lectures are 2-hour sessions and Tutorial 3-hour sessions weekly.
